This post has been written by one of the teens in our intergenerational bonding program. She has been meeting with her elder partner and we asked what the experience has been like for her.
"Meeting another person of Indian heritage in my community was amazing. Prior to this, my experience with other Indians had been through Bala Vihar, the few in my school, and my grandparents' friends. Meeting Rao Uncle has taught me more about India and what it was like to live there, what it took to come to the US, and how to find a community wherever you live. It has also shown me connections between my family and other Indian families here in the US. Overall, the first two visits to Rao Uncle through CORD have been enlightening and enjoyable."
